Classes
The beginners class is six consecutive weeks - two hours
for each class.
You will learn:
How to choose the best glass for your design patterning
Glass cutting
The copperfoil (Tiffany style) method
Soldering and...
How to border your finished stained glass window in lead.
You will make:
- A stained glass windows approximately 12" by 12"
- Some designs are somewhat larger and may be a circle,
oval or a rectangle
- Approximately 20 designs to choose from Copperfoil and
solder and lead for this project are provided
Tools
You are welcome to use studio tools including grinders
(grozing machines).
During your class time the only tool you will need to purchase
is a glass cutter.
There are several different styles to "try" here at the
studio before you make the decision to purchase one. The
beginner class is designed for you to do all processed during
class time.
Glass
Glass is additional and usually costs from $15.00 to $30.00
depending on the colors chosen, manufacturer, and the amount
needed.
When you have completed the beginner class, you are free
to choose your next project.
It could be a larger more complex copperfoiled stained
glass window;
- A small leaded window
- A six or eight sided lampshade - panel lamp
- A garden stone (seasonal)
- A pendulum clock in an oak frame
- A candleholder
- And many more possibilities
As your skills increase you may choose a larger leaded
window or a complex lampshade, such as a Tiffany reproduction.
You could also choose to make a kitchen cabinet insert. Many more options are available to you as the student.
